Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic, Inc. strives to facilitate measurable, positive outcomes for families utilizing a holistic, community-based continuum of care, which respects each client's unique background.

Philosophy of the Organization

Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic, Inc. is a community-based organization which provides services to all clients located in the geographic service delivery area, regardless of cultural background or socioeconomic status. The agency believes our staff works best when we engage with families and provide treatment that achieves the family's goals in their home, community or school, and incorporates all members of their family and/or community in order to enhance their opportunity for success.

Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic, Inc. provides services in support of several Department of Human Services programs.  We also provide comprehensive independent outpatient treatment and therapy services to children and adults under our Outpatient Services Program.

Organization Profile

Christine Secrist-Mertz, Ph.D., L.M.F.T., founded Mid-Iowa Therapy Clinic, Inc. in 1991 in response to the great need in Iowa's rural communities for mental health treatment for children and families.  Dr. Secrist-Mertz has since continued in this pursuit and has expanded across Iowa from the origination site of Perry. Office locations currently include Perry, Des Moines, Ames, Fort Dodge, Council Bluffs, Ottumwa, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids and Mount Pleasant.

Mid-Iowa maintains its focus on children and families through a variety of services, community collaborations and Department of Human Services support.
